Color change – greenish-blue to light-bluish-violet fluorite – 8.01 ct – Puy St Gulmier, Puy De Dome, France

Light-bluish-green fluorite – crystal – William Wise Mine, Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA

Thermoluminescence at 350°C - Many REE are present.

The 405 nm excitation PL spectrum of a golden-brown fluorite cubic-crystal from Clay Center, Ohio, USA shows a white luminescence with a broad emission ranging from 750 nm up to 450 nm and more. It is not clear if the cause is oxygen centers O32-, O- for the (493), 509, 536 and 564 nm emission peaks and ST from organic compounds for the broad emission peak itself. A study of the UV-VIS absporption spectrum may bring some answers for oxygen centers.
