Golden-brown fluorite – crystal – White Rock Quarry, Clay Center, Ohio, USA

pl405 fluorite cubic-crystal golden-brown WhiteRockQuarry ClayCenter Ohio USA
The 405 nm excitation PL spectrum of a golden-brown fluorite cubic-crystal from Clay Center, Ohio, USA shows a white luminescence with a broad emission ranging from 750 nm up to 450 nm and more. It is not clear if the cause is oxygen centers O32-, O- for the (493), 509, 536 and 564 nm emission peaks and ST from organic compounds for the broad emission peak itself. A study of the UV-VIS absporption spectrum may bring some answers for oxygen centers.
  • <450 - 750 nm: ST? [1] [3]
  • (493), 509, 536, 564 nm: O32-, O- ? [1] [3]
